Message-ID: As you know, we United Methodists are able to support pastors and missionaries around the world through what is called the "Apportionment system." While it would be wonderful if we could reach out personally to everyone who needs our help, we know that is impossible. So we gather regularly with our congregation and put money into the offering plate, and through a carefully crafted system of United Methodist mission and ministry our gifts stretch around the world. Together, through our connected congregations, we accomplish what no single church, district or annual conference ever could hope to do alone. In this way, each individual, each family, each congregation gives a fair share for the church's work. We combine our prayers, presence, gifts and service to make a significant difference in the lives of God's people. At this time we still have a way to go to support these ministries 100% for the 2008 year. As of this writing the amount we owe is $25,582. I hope you will consider making a special gift to the church to fulfill our obligations as a congregation of the United Methodist Church. Your gift can be given during one of our worship services (Christmas Eve, or on Sunday December 28). You can bring your special offering to the church office, or mail it to the church (P.O. Box 472, Ellijay, GA 30540). Please mark your checks For: "Apportionments" As we approach the holidays, let me take a moment to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. I thank God for all of you and the blessing of being your pastor. We've accomplished many wonderful things this year in ministry and mission. The offering of your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service has been a witness to your faith in Jesus Christ. God has been so faithful to us in giving us His Son, let us continue to be faithful in our commitment to Him, in the sharing of our gifts.
